Myrtle Estella Gayle, age 96, of Clarksville, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Tennova.
Myrtle was born October 9, 1926, in St. Catherine Parish, Jamaica to the late Stanford Gayle and Gertrude Wilks. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Vida Blake, Merlyn Wilks, Elfreda Golding, Eugenie Collins and her brother Artnell Bailey. She is survived by her son, Whitfield Morris of Clarksville; brothers Ervin Bailey of St. Catherine Parish, Jamaica and Amos Bailey of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; grandchildren, Whitfield “Theo” Morris Jr., Mya Morris and Whitney Morris, all of New York; great grandchildren, Sydney Morris, Saige Morris and many nieces and nephews.
Myrtle was employed for 21 years by the West Indies Paper Products Company in Kingston, JA until her retirement when she migrated to the United States in 2008. A God-fearing woman, she loved cooking and never met a stranger. She will be remembered as always smiling and loving her family as a mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and auntie.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Friday, September 15, 2023, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends and family are welcome to join the repast which will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Valor Hall, 105 Walter Garrett Lane, Oak Grove, KY 42262.
