DOVER, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Murder suspect Kirby Wallace, who was the target of a massive manhunt in Montgomery and Stewart Counties this month, is being moved to a different jail.

According to WKRN News 2, Kirby Wallace has been moved from the Stewart County Jail to the Morgan County Correctional Complex.

The move took place late Thursday afternoon.

Stewart County Sheriff Frankie Gray told News 2 the state prison is simply more secure.

Gray told News 2 they took special precautions last week when Wallace appeared in court because inmate transport is considered one of the most dangerous times for both deputies and defendants.

Wallace was wearing a bullet-proof vest in court. After the hearing, someone yelled, “We’ll watch you die, Kirby!”

The transfer to Morgan County Correctional Complex puts Kirby in East Tennessee. Whenever he appears in court, the Stewart County Sheriff will have to drive more than 220 miles to pick him up and then bring him back.
