MSG Charles T. Borens passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Select Specialty Hospital, in Nashville, after an extended illness.

He was born in Stewart County, TN on March 18, 1933, son of John W. Boren and Anna Lula Weston Boren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, September 20, at 1:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Dr. Larry Robertson and Bro. James Sanders officiating. Special music will be conducted by Lyndel Littleton. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, in Dover, TN, where full military honors will be rendered. Visitation will be Monday, September 19, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and Tuesday, September 20, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.

Mr. Borens was married 60 years to Betty Jean Anderson Borens, who survives him. They have one daughter, Teresa K. Borens (Robert) Bradley of Greenbrier, TN; one grandson, Jeremy Bradley of Greenbrier, TN; one granddaughter, Melissa Bradley (Joshua) Hill of Normandy, TN; two great granddaughters, Olivia Bradley of Greenbrier, TN and Lilly Hill of Normandy, TN; nephew, Neal (Julie) Stubblefield of Murray, KY; niece by marriage, Dortha Stubblefield of Murray, KY; and nephew by marriage, Lawrence Jackson of Paris, TN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles T. Borens, Jr.; brother, Newman Borens; sister, Verna Stubblefield; nephew, Larry Stubblefield; and niece, Sheila Borens Jackson.

MSG Borens served in the US Navy for four years, the National Guard for four years, and retired from the US Army after twenty years of service. Since retirement he made his home in Clarksville, TN. MSG served three years during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star with OLC, Army Commendation Medical, Good Conduct Medal (Navy), ENDSM (Navy), Good Conduct Medal 5th Award, Vietnam Service Medal with nine campaign stars, RVN Campaign Medal with 60 Device, RVN Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citations, seven Over Seas Service Bars, National Defense Service Medal 1st OFC, and the Mertiorious Service Medal. He served as an educator for APSU at Fort Campbell for 23 years and pastored at several churches around Clarksville, Dover, and Dickson, TN.

The family especially thanks the doctors and staff at Tennova Healthcare, Select Specialty Hospital, and the VA Home Healthcare personnel for the loving and outstanding care over the course of Charles’ illness. Also, thanks for the prayers and love of our Hilldale Baptist Church family, friends, and Tuesday Night Bible Study, fellowship, and the Hilldale pastoral staff.
