CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Former Clarksville Academy Cougar and Mr. Basketball Award finalist Eddie Ricks III has taken announced his decision to enter the transfer portal as he goes into the sophomore season of his collegiate career.
During his freshmen year, Ricks played for Morehead State University, which competed in the NCAA tournament as a 14-seed. The 6-foot-7 forward is coming off a 2023-24 campaign where he averaged 7.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game, according to Morehead State Athletics. He also shot 42% from the field while shooting 31% from three.

In his announcement, Ricks thanked the Morehead State coaching staff and everyone who had supported him throughout his first college season. “This season has undeniably been transformative for me, both personally and professionally,” Ricks said.
Prior to his commitment to Morehead, Ricks previously held offers from Jacksonville University, Tennessee Tech, Lehigh University, Tennessee State University and Austin Peay State University, among others.
Ricks has three years of eligibly remaining for whichever program he decides to transfer to this off-season.
