CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – It was another successful year for the Beaver County 100.3 FM Camp Rainbow Radiothon, held Thursday and Friday, Feb. 25 and 26, sponsored by Wyatt Johnson Automotive Group.
With the help of hundreds of community supporters, $59,455.17 was raised during the 12th year of this special event.
The radiothon featured many heartwarming stories about the children of Camp Rainbow, interviews with the young campers, and the support of many volunteers.
The event could not have been possible without the help of all the Beaver Country on-air personalities: Fletch, Mandi Michaels, Monica Reed and Mike Sanders, who worked tirelessly over the two days.
Camp Rainbow is a summer camp for children who have medical conditions that won’t let them attend regular camps. The camp is held for one week in June at Land Between the Lakes with close to 45 children, affectionally known as campers, between the ages of 5 and 12.
“The radiothon has been amazing,” said Camp Director Jereme Miner. “This year with everything we’ve got going on in the world, I’m blown away by the generosity from the surrounding communities.”
Miner also thanked Beaver Country 100.3 FM, 5 Star Media Group and Wyatt Johnson.
Beaver Program Director Mike Sanders said they worried there wouldn’t be a good response this year.
“We came into this expecting not a big turnout since it’s been such a strange year with COVID, a lot of people out of work and a lot of people can’t donate,” Sanders said. “It’s amazing with all of our listeners in Beaver Country making it happen.
“We’re really just super happy with the numbers that we got. It just goes to show you how much people care about the kids in our community and the people of our town and area want to give back, and they do, and it showed this year in our Camp Rainbow Radiothon.”
Dale Lewis, sales director for Wyatt Johnson Automotive Group, said he’s always appreciated the area’s support for organizations like Camp Rainbow.
“We are honored to be included in such a wonderful cause and very excited to see how everyone poured out the support for this campaign like they always do. From everyone at Wyatt Johnson we’d like to thank all those who participated in the fundraising and those who dedicate their time for those campers,” Lewis said.
