CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery Central Indians traveled to West Creek High School for their third straight matchup in the district championship game on Wednesday, with a bid to the first-ever TSSAA State Flag Football Tournament on the line. The Indians’ defense pitched a shutout, and two timely touchdowns for Central earned them a 13-0 win, clinching them a berth in the state tournament, and ending West Creek’s season.

Early on, neither offense could get much going. However, Indians running back Libby Dominiac broke the silence, taking an option pitch to the house for the first score of the night. Neither team had many highlights outside of that offensively, but the defense was stellar. Irelynn Laurin was the standout for the Coyote defense, with two interceptions in the first half.

These girls have worked hard, and it showed tonight,” said Indians head coach Bill Youngquist. “Defense comes down to alignment, assignment, and effort. They did all three of those things great in this game.”

The Indians’ defense continued to hold strong, and despite some fantastic plays from Coyote quarterback Kinleigh Lewis, West Creek couldn’t find the endzone. Central receiver ReeAnna Stockling iced the game with a late touchdown.

Historic seasons for West Creek, MCHS

This senior class of West Creek flag football players has been historic, winning one county championship and playing in all three. Head coach Aarron King could not say enough good things about the team.

“Central’s a great team, and they had the better game today, I wish them nothing but the best moving forward,” said King. “These seniors set the foundation for what we live by in this program. We always say we expect to win, not just in the field but in the classroom. They bought into that from the very beginning. This is the greatest team I’ve seen. It sucks it ended like this, but we got some girls that are going to college, hopefully we can say Olympians soon. This senior class will go down in history.”

As for Central, they head to Murfreesboro for a chance at the first-ever flag football state championship, on Wednesday and Thursday, May 7 and 8. Quarterback Audrey Levendusky is grateful for the moment, but never satisfied.

“I’m incredibly blessed, and I’m so thankful that God has gifted me with my abilities,” said Levendusky. “There are a million people that are a part of this team, and I love them. This is such a great opportunity, and we’re happy to be where we are, but I want us to keep pushing ourselves. Continue to get 1% better, and hope we can come out on top next week. I’m just glad we still get to practice.”
