CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Montgomery Central has announced the hire of Tony Amero as their new head girls basketball coach. Amero has spent the last few seasons as an assistant under Brian Rush at Clarksville High School.
“I have been blessed to work under some great coaches, most recently with Coach Rush, and feel this is the natural next step,” said Amero. “I’m thankful for the trust that Montgomery Central has placed in me, and I’m anxious to get to started.”
During Amero’s time as an assistant, the Wildcats won four straight district titles and three straight region titles. Amero now steps into his first job as a head coach, after being an assistant for many years.
“I’m excited to work for a school with a long winning tradition,” said Amero. “My goals are to bring a strong work ethic and accountability to the team and bring the Lady Indians back to their winning ways. By playing strong, aggressive defense and an offense that spreads the scoring possibilities.”
