CLARKSVILLE, TN − The Montgomery Central High School varsity boys wrestling team ran away with the team title at the TSSAA Region 7 Championships, winning back-to-back regional titles and landing five champions at the event.

Central had eight in finals out of 14 weight classes, with freshman Jack Levendusky earning his first title at 106, seniors Craig Sudderth and Jeremy Mills winning their first titles at 138 and 150, and juniors Tamarion Johnson and Josh Hodges earning their first championships at 157 and 175. Christian Malavar (120), Immanuel Gilmore (190), and Eli Cline (215) also made the finals and placed 2nd. In all, Montgomery Central qualified 13 for sectionals next weekend.

Sudderth, Mills, and Johnson dominated their finals matches, while Hodges and Levendusky won close matches to earn their titles. Levendusky came from behind to get the pin in the 3rd period with an exciting finish to a wild match.

Several wrestlers pulled big upsets over higher seeds, adding to Central’s team total, with #4 seed Christian Malavar upsetting the #1 seed at 120, #4 seed Eli Cline taking down the #1 seed at 215, and #2 seed Immanuel Gilmore scoring a convincing win over the #2 seed at 190.

The Indians won the team race by 84 pts, scoring 230.5 total points, overwhelming 2nd place James Lawson High and 3rd place Cheatham County who 146.5 and 145.5 points, respectively.
