CLARKSVILLE, TN – On Sept. 22, in a game against Montgomery Central Middle School, #33 Isaiah Long broke the single-season teams tackling record set in 1978. The record was previously held by Ronnie Davis with 63 tackles. The 48-year-old single-season tackling record seemed impossible until Tuesday.
Isaiah Long, a seventh-grader, plays middle linebacker for New Providence Middle School Mustangs. In the middle of the fourth quarter of regulation, Isaiah broke the record with 64 tackles.
Isaiah has consistently averaged 10.7 tackles per game. With one more game left in the CMCSS middle school district, Isaiah has a chance to put this record out of reach for many more years to come.
