CLARKSVILLE, TN – Did you know Mid-Cumberland Meals-on-Wheels serves nearly 70,000 meals to 495 primarily homebound senior citizens in Montgomery County? These meals are delivered by caring volunteers who often foster a sense of family for lonely seniors.
One of the comments seniors sometimes say is, “My volunteer is my best friend!” It is such a sweet bond between the volunteers and the seniors. For some seniors the volunteer could be the only person the senior sees daily.
Lindsey Taylor, Program Director at Mid-Cumberland Meals-on-Wheels, is making an appeal to the residents of Montgomery County about the need for volunteers. “We do not have near enough volunteers in Montgomery County, and we desperately need more. I know Montgomery County is a giving community, and residents want to help their senior neighbors.”
Volunteering is easy: Register at https://www.mc-mealsonwheels.com/volunteer or email lindsey.taylor@mchra.com. We just ask that volunteers either deliver meals once weekly or every other week, and it only takes an hour or so to deliver a route. The meals are picked up at the meal sites around 10:30 a.m. Monday-Friday. You will truly make a difference in the life of a senior.
