CLARKSVILLE, TN – The James N. McCutchen Detachment 603 Marine Corps League presented a $1,000 scholarship to Nevaeh Darr. Nevaeh is a graduate of West Creek High School and is a first-generation freshman entering Austin Peay State University in the fall majoring in Business.
The Detachment sponsors annual scholarships to APSU for graduating seniors from our area. These awards memorialize First Sergeant Loyal E. Conard, USMC, (Ret.) for his leadership in the Marine Corps and community.
Applicants submitted an essay entitled “The Most Important Leadership Trait of the United States Marine Corps”. Of the 14 traits, Nevaeh chose integrity. In her winning essay, Nevaeh emphasized the crucial need for all leaders to be honest and responsible, with a strong moral compass.
