CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Decatur man was arrested after leading a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper on a high-speed chase on I-24 in Montgomery County and allegedly throwing a water balloon at him.

According to an arrest warrant, the trooper was checking an interstate welcome center April 2 when he saw a Jeep Wrangler park in a commercial vehicle area. When he approached the vehicle to tell the driver he could not park there, the man opened his driver side door and threw a water balloon.

The trooper said he approached the open door and the man, who was wearing a white bra, tried to break a second water balloon at the trooper’s feet.

His report says the man appeared to be under the influence, but when he tried to call dispatch the suspect backed up his vehicle and got back on the interstate.

The suspect, later identified as Alan Prisby, led the trooper on a chase with speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. The trooper said Prisby crossed the center line several times, passed vehicles on the right, and nearly caused a crash.

Prisby then allegedly left the interstate at Exit 4, made a right turn onto Westfield Court, and pulled into a parking lot where he was arrested.

The trooper said he had red eyes, slurred speech, and smelled like alcohol. He refused to perform field sobriety tests or a blood test. Police found an open bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream in his vehicle.

Prisby was charged with evading arrest, violation of implied consent, DUI, reckless driving, and speeding. His bond was set at $20,000.
