NASHVILLE (WKRN) – A man was killed and a Metro officer was shot in the leg during an exchange of gunfire Friday night at an apartment complex in North Nashville.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was called to investigate and released some preliminary information at the scene.

Metro police responded to a report of shots fired around 10:30 p.m. at the Overlook Ridge Apartments on Buena Vista Pike.
Officers saw a man who they believe was involved in the gunfire and an earlier pistol-whipping incident, based on a description they received, authorities said.
They saw the man run into an apartment. The officers approached the apartment door.
For reasons not yet clear, the situation escalated. Shots were fired by the suspect and two police officers, the TBI reported.
The suspect, who has not been identified, died at the scene.
