ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A man has been charged with murder in a fatal shooting that occurred inside an Ashland City home this week.
William Jeffery Powell has been charged with second-degree murder. A police report obtained by WKRN News 2 says Powell is the one who dialed 911 after shooting his friend, 39-year-old Jeremy Tryon.
The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and Ashland City police officers arrived at the home on Bryant Rd. Tuesday around 4 a.m. in response to a 911 call from a man requesting help.
Deputies arrived and discovered the Tryon, who appeared to be dead from gunshot wounds.
Police said Powell and a woman, identified as Ellen Leahy, were in the home drinking and using drugs. A glass smoking pipe with burnt residue in it inside the home.
An arrest report says they became intoxicated and an argument ensued between Leahy and Powell.
According to court documents obtained by WKRN, investigators believe Powell knowingly killed Tryon with the gun.
Leahy was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
