Pack up the SUV, bring some snacks and enjoy a short 50-mile drive from Clarksville to Warner Park, just south of Nashville. Percy and Edwin Warner Parks span 3,200 acres featuring picnic areas, scenic points and trails for walking, biking and running and a photographer every now and then.

A highlight for the kids will be the Warner Park Nature Center surrounded by bird feeders, several rocking chairs and a Nature Playground. They are open Tuesday through Saturday and offer free programs like Nature Center at Night and iSpy Butterflies. To look at their full list of upcoming events, visit here their website.

When it’s time to go outdoors, you have nine hiking trails to choose from ranging from easy up to moderate (4 ½ mile loop). For those that find walking the trails more difficult and still want to experience the outdoors, you can email Warner Park Nature Center and sign up for a naturalist-led cart tour and travel by golf cart. There’s no shortage of photo op’s with open meadows, streams, wildflowers and plenty of greenery.

Make sure you’re prepared with these items for a smooth trip:
