CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The 150-year-old Gill-Masonic Lodge building at 631 Franklin St. was torn down Friday morning.
The two-story brick building was the residence of former Mayor Mike Sullivan, who built the bouse in 1871, according to “Nineteenth Century Heritage Clarksville” by Ursula Beach. It was later known as the Gill-Fort House. In 1961, it became the Queen City Masonic Lodge building, and it was later sold to nearby Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Church leaders have said the house has been beyond repair for many years. Demolition has been discussed since at least 2014.
Clarksville Now has reached out Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for additional comment on the demolition and future plans for the site.
