CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Mamie Johnson, a resident of Spring Meadows Healthcare in Clarksville, will celebrate her 108th birthday Monday, Jan. 13.

Andrea Parker, who works at the nursing home, said Johnson still walks every day with her daughter, Dot (Bobby) Goad, and enjoys completing crossword puzzles.

Johnson once told Parker, “Andrea, the he reason I have lived so long is because I have never driven a car.” She spent the majority if her life in Nashville, where she either walked or rode the bus.

Her husband passed away when she was 35 years old, when her children were still young, but Parker said Johnson has always been independent. “I can’t believe she is still up and going, but I am so proud to be a part of that adventure and to know such a strong woman.”

Johnson has been a resident of Spring Meadows since 2008.

Happy Birthday Mamie!
