Clarksville, Tenn. – Local Pastor Frank Washington Sr. has written his first book, “From The Heart: A Collection of Poems.” The work of poetry was published by Clarksville’s Gordon Publishing, and a book signing event is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on July 3 at the Ft. Campbell Main Exchange.
“From The Heart: A Collection of Poems” contains poems written from different eras of more than 20 years throughout Washington’s life. These poems have been compiled inside one book about everything from patriotism to love. As a writer, Washington hopes to inspire people from every walk of life.
Washington was born in West Helena, Arkansas. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Army and has served his country for more than 21 years. In 1975, he accepted his calling into the ministry and has served in various churches both overseas and in the U.S.
Today, he is pastor of The New Way Community Church of God In Christ located at 809 Providence, Boulevard. Washington spends much time serving in community from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Clarksville Ministerial Association, Clarksville Unity Day, People Helping People, and as the Director for the Progressive Citizens Advocates Clothing Ministries and The Joy of Christmas.
Washington attended Bible College in Minot, North Dakota and has continued his studies at Austin Peay State University. He is married to Barbara A. Washington and together they have four children.
