CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Democratic Party members, progressives and Coffee Party members from Clarksville-Montgomery County came together Monday night to discuss the upcoming elections.
Terry McMoore and his wife arranged a meet and greet at Up in Smoke Cigars to discuss the upcoming national and local elections. McMoore is the president of the National League of Voter Empowerment. Along with printed material on the candidates McMoore had written material on getting the right to vote back as well as how to be prepared to vote.
When asked what the goal of the meet and greet was McMoore said, “We had a shaky nomination period and we wanted the Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders supporters to come together and unite.”
He added, “Tonight also gave an opportunity for nominated state and local representatives time to present their platform and also let people get familiar with them.”
Certain candidates shared their platforms, while others, including judges up for re-election, chose to leave politics out of their plans.
Afterward voters and candidates were able to speak one on one with each other.
The Montgomery County Democratic Party will be having an open house on Thursday, September 1 from 5pm until 7 pm at their headquarters located at 420 Madison Street, Suite D.
