CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville-Montgomery County Library begins phase 2 of its modified reopening today, August 3.

Library patrons will notice some changes have been made in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Those changes include the following:

  • Library hours will be expanded to Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m-5 p.m, for uniformity and to offer more hours of service.
  • The library will add a public study room using the second floor Genealogy Room. This room will feature 10 tables for use by 10 people, allowing six feet of distance.
    • Patrons may sit at a table for one-hour periods on a renewable duration depending on the demand for tables
  • 20 computers will be available for use.
  • The library will discontinue the extension of due dates beginning August 3. The current due date for all items in good standing is August 21. Items will return to their normal checkout beginning with new checkouts. Exceptions may be made for special COVID-19 related situations.

The library asks that patrons begin to gradually return items that they have had for months so that they might be enjoyed by others. This will also help to prevent library staff from being overwhelmed by an influx of items on August 21.

If you are stuck at home due to COVID-19, library staff ask that you call in to request an extension.

Programming will remain suspended during phase 2 of reopening, the length of which is unknown at this time. Meeting room use and donations are also suspended at this time.

Browsing of the collection is suspended, and masks are required for visitors 13 or older.

According to library staff, the library may go through several more phases of reopening before returning to normal operations than other county offices and buildings due to the nature of its mission and interactions with patrons.

The book return at the back of the building remains open. As a precautionary measure, all returned materials will be quarantined for three days before returning to circulation.

Items may be placed on hold either by using an online library account, by calling for assistance at 931-648-8826, or by clicking here.

Updates to library operations will be posted to their website, as well as on their Facebook page.
