CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – LG Electronics, the South Korea-based company that creates thousands of washing machines a day in Clarksville, plans to expand its operations with a 560,000-square-foot warehouse, adding another 80 employees, along with a building footprint that opens the door for a future massive increase in production.

LGE recently submitted site plans for the warehouse, and on Wednesday, Josh Ward, vice president of the Industrial Development Board, confirmed the plans to Clarksville Now.

A $100 million investment, the warehouse is roughly the same size as the current main building, so this roughly doubles LGE’s footprint, minus secondary buildings. The warehouse will be to the north of the current factory. Construction is expected to begin in June, with completion in the third quarter of 2026.

The plans for the warehouse include stubbing out a refrigeration line. That could allow the warehouse to at some point be converted into a manufacturing building.

LGE opened in Clarksville in 2018 with a then-$360 million smart factory that has the capacity to produce more than 1 million front- and top-load washers per year. The factory uses hundreds of robots in the material handling, parts production, sub-assembly and final assembly processes, according to previous reports.

It currently produces about 6,000 washing machines per day, and about 1,000 dryers per day, Ward said, while currently employing about 740 people.

Correction: The warehouse size is 560,000 square feet.
