CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Christian rising senior Lauren Hassell has committed to Vanderbilt University to continue her education and basketball career, choosing the Commodores over programs like Louisville and North Carolina.
“I chose Vanderbilt because it’s home. I love the direction that they are going, and Coach Ralph is amazing. They’ve been recruiting me since I was in 6th grade, and it’s been like a family ever since!!
Hassell made the announcement of her commitment on Friday at 3 p.m., one week after visiting Vanderbilt on an official visit. She is currently the number 10 ranked recruit in the nation in the class of 2027, according to the SportsCenter NEXT rankings.
The 6-foot-4 forward and TSIAA Ms. Basketball Award winner averaged 25.5 points and 11.2 rebounds a game during her junior season. Hassell also averaged 2.5 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game as a junior.
Hassell was a highly sought-after recruit throughout her recruitment, and the Commodores will be happy to have her. Last season, Vanderbilt went 29-5, making it all the way to the sweet sixteen.
