CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Larry Allen is a candidate for the Clarksville City Council in Ward 1.
Allen is a combat veteran who served for six years in the infantry before given a medical discharge. He is originally from the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. At the age of 16, he became a volunteer first responder with the local rescue squad, then enlisted in the Army. After military service, he began his college education while being an active volunteer firefighter/EMT with Prince George County, Virginia, Fire and EMS. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Technology. Upon completion, he went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Emergency Services Management.
While being a military spouse, Larry, his wife Cindy, and his stepson moved to Fort Knox, Kentucky, for a short time before moving to Fort Campbell, where his wife was a first sergeant before retiring. Larry began his first business, which spanned over a 10-year period, then began his journey on another business.
He said he has a passion for public safety, ensuring common sense budgeting takes place, and improving the City of Clarksville Infrastructure.
“As a city councilman, it is our duty to hold everyone accountable in terms of spending, taxes, infrastructure, and the public safety of our community. We must also find ways to encourage small businesses to expand and stay within our community, as that is how every community has been formed,” Allen said.
“I will make it my mission to ensure we have a balanced budget with reduced nonsense spending, I will work with public safety department heads to determine the needs and how they can improve service.”
