The long tradition of Kiwanis Pancake Day goes back over 60 years and is a primary fund raiser for many projects to help children in Montgomery County.

Two notable service projects and community events funded in part by Pancake Day include buying books for Montgomery County third graders and the annual children’s Christmas party. Pancake Day and the Kiwanis Rodeo are two of the most important fundraisers for the organization, said Michael Ursery, Vice President of the local Kiwanis chapter.

Other important projects include the Kiwanis Family Art Center at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center, the annual Veterans Essay Contest, and Launch Pads and puzzles for young children at the Montgomery County Public Library.

Early childhood literacy has long been a major effort for the Kiwanis Club members.
