CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Kirkwood High senior running back Josiah Claybrooks has been named Clarksville Now’s Player of the Week following his performance in the Cobras’ 35-14 win over Creek Wood on Friday night. Claybrooks rushed 21 times for 154 yards and found paydirt three times to lead Kirkwood to a win on senior night. The 154 yards rushed also put him over the 3,000-career yard mark.
“Josiah is an old school football player,” said Kirkwood head coach Chad Watson. “He is an incredibly tough young man! He has really good vision and has been a heck of a leader for our football program over the last three years. Anytime you have 3,000 career rushing yards, you have had a heck of a career.”
2025 season stats
At this point in the season, Claybrooks has ran for 950 yards and has 13 total touchdowns. He also has compiled 51 receiving yards. Now, Kirkwood has the week off for fall break, but when they return, they can win their first region title in program history with a win in their last two contests over Northwest High and Henry County.
“I can’t do nothing without the amazing team and offensive line I was blessed with,” said Claybrooks. “This means a lot and shows that the hard work I have done is paying off.”
