CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Kenwood High senior quarterback Christian James has been named Clarksville Now’s Player of the Week following his performance in the Knights’ 37-12 win over Maplewood on Friday night.
James rushed only nine times but collected 227 yards and four touchdowns, along with the addition of a 49-yard passing touchdown through the air. One of James’ rushing touchdowns was a 95-yard scamper to the endzone, the longest in Kenwood history.

“I am very blessed to win this award, and I want to make sure there will be more to come,” James told Clarksville Now. “I won this award because of my teammates, but specifically the linemen. My team depends on me to lead the offense and put points on the board.
“I am thankful they have so much faith in me, and it makes me want to give my all and not let them down. This is an award that I cannot let get to me, so I have to keep going to make sure the entire team gets an award. I am very honored to receive it, but as a team, we are not satisfied.”
James is a converted wide receiver from last season, but his athleticism and football IQ have allowed him to excel at the position.
In only five games this season, as he missed two games due to injury, he’s rushed for 583 yards to go along with 6 touchdowns. As a passer, James has compiled 348 passing yards with 5 passing touchdowns. Even more impressively, in only the last two games, James has 337 yards on the ground and 6 touchdowns.
“James is an amazing athlete, student, and leader,” said Kenwood head coach Jarhett Snead. “He had a learning curve converting to QB, but as a team, we are confident in what he is able to do. He has taken the reins of the offense and has worked extremely hard to get to where he is now. We greatly appreciate what he does for our team.”
