CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Kenwood Elementary School was experiencing temporary heating issues Tuesday, Jan. 29.

School system spokesperson Elise Shelton sent out a message to families to let them know four areas in the building do have heat. As of 11:30 a.m., the heat is functional again.

“Temperatures in the classrooms are about 62 degrees so as mechanics are working to repair the boiler, we have been moving students in and out of the warmer areas of the building,” Shelton said.

She said the repair won’t be complete by the end of the school day, so parents who are designated to pick up students may do so and the absence will not be counted against the student.

“You will need to come in to the office to dismiss your child. We are not running buses for an early dismissal because we can’t be sure an adult would be home to receive the child,” Shelton said.

The school system anticipates that the heating system will be operational for school tomorrow.

“Unless you hear otherwise, we will plan to have Kenwood Elementary School in session tomorrow,” the message to parents said.
