CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) – JJ Wheat, a sophomore and point guard/shooting guard for the Clarksville High School boy’s basketball team, is December’s ESPN Clarksville Athlete of the Month presented by Culvers.

Clarksville Head Boys Basketball Coach, Ted Young, talked about Wheat’s action on the court.

“A lot of time you’ll see players go from their freshmen year to their sophomore year and have a little drop in performance, we have not seen that with JJ,” Young said.

Young added that his assists, his rebounding, and his points have all gone up this year. It starts with Wheat’s work ethic in practice. Every day the sophomore shows up for practice, he’s ready to get to work and he wants to improve.

When it comes to his academics, Young said Wheat’s teachers say nothing but positive things about his work in the classroom and getting his work done.
