Iona Christine Durham (Crick), age 95, of Clarksville, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018, at Spring Meadows Healthcare Center.
Christine was born December 28, 1922, in Montgomery County, TN, to the late Christopher William Bracy and Iona Carrigan Bracy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Jefferson Durham and thirteen siblings, Ray Bracy, Lillie Mae Crotzer, Bertie Walker, Rosa Bagwell, Vera Baker, Malona Bracy, Virginia Winters, J.T. Bracy, George Bracy, Dorothy Seay, Camilla Welch, Betty Shelton, and Mina Jean Bracy.
Mrs. Durham was retired from Acme Boot Company. She also worked at Miss Patsy’s Daycare and was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Christine was known for her cooking and baking. She was affectionately known by many as “MeMaw.”
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 29, at 1:00 PM, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Steve Louder officiating. Christine will be laid to rest at Sango Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, December 28, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, and Saturday, December 29, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service, at the church.
Christine is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Durham (David) Barbee of Clarksville; brother, Russell (Janelle) Bracy of Ft. Worth, TX; five grandchildren, Paula Major, Jeffrey (Melinda) Major, Cheryl Rhodes, Susan Smith, and Michael Barbee; nine great grandchildren, Madison (Nolen) Miller, Parker Renick, Samantha Major, Hunter Major, Lillie Rich, Dillon Rich, Emme Rhodes, Caleb Smith, and Matthew Smith; and three great-great grandchildren, Jax Miller, Bracey Miller, and Beau Smith.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Welch, Caleb Smith, Parker Renick, Matthew Smith, Hunter Major, Tommy Renick, Don Winters, and Nolen Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Rice, Chris Stanfill, Billy Ray Bagwell, and Jim Novak.
