CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Another round of Internet outage is facing CDE Lightband customers over the weekend. This is the second time this week that customers have been without Internet, but CDE crews are working diligently to repair several locations of damaged or cut fiber.

For a company that understands the severity of “a perfect storm” this Internet outage has truly been a series of unfortunate events. Most of which have been out of the hands of the company.

The devastating tornadoes Monday night caused the company to lose connection to their primary feed in Nashville. The back up connection through Dallas then began to experience issues.

Initial investigation revealed necessary repairs to damaged fiber cables were required in the Memphis area. After these repairs, customers began to regain their connectivity.

The temporary re-route could not hold forever, and now a second break in the fiber has been found in the Austin, Tx area.

“Work continues to restore our Internet connection and unfortunately this will not be a quick fix,” CDE said on their Facebook page. “We will add updates as they are available but we are getting very little new information except that the work continues. Again, we thank you for your patience and we’re sorry for the inconvenience.”

Crews have been on the scene working tirelessly to restore Internet. Early Saturday morning, the company announced the repairs would be “extensive”. Crews will run 400-feet of cable onto poles, as a temporary repair, while a permanent solution can be made.

As of approximately 5:30am Saturday morning, officials estimate customers will continue to be without Internet for a minimum of eight hours.

While all of these setbacks are largely outside of the company’s control, they have remained responsive and provided continued updates via local media sources and their social media.

CDE has also offered a credit to those who have been affected by the Internet outage.

“CDE Lightband customers who want to receive credit on their statements for the Internet service issues must request it after all services have been restored,” the company said Saturday morning.

Customers can make the request by calling 931-648-8151 or email CDE at broadband.support@cdelightband.com.

Any credit issued will be applied to a customers billing statement. The company urges all customers wishing to receive the refund wait for services to be restored before sending in a request.

“You are our top priority and we apologize for the inconvenience,” CDE said in their statement.
