MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCS0) have captured a nonviolent inmate who walked away from a work detail site Friday morning in Woodlawn.
A neighbor of a home in the 2600 block of Woodlawn Rd. noticed suspicious activity inside a vacant house under renovation and flagged down a passing patrol deputy, according to Public Information Officer Sandra Brandon.
Deputies entered the home and after a thorough search, located Christopher Alan Poore hiding in the attic. He was taken into custody at 1:25 pm.
Poore, 21, was transported to Gateway Medical Center by Montgomery County EMS to undergo a medical clearance exam before returning to the jail.
As a precautionary measure, Woodlawn Elementary and Liberty Elementary were temporarily placed on lockdown.
“Deputies immediately arrived on the scene, set up a search perimeter, and started a detailed search of the area, said Sheriff Fuson. “Thanks to the hard work of our deputies, Clarksville Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and an observant member of our community, Poore was quickly captured.”
Poore is a nonviolent inmate who was serving time for theft of property and criminal trespass.
