CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Police are asking for the public’s help identifying two men accused of attempting to rob Big Lots on Riverside Drive.

The incident happened on May 15 at around 8:39 p.m. at Big Lots located at 1041 S. Riverside Drive, according to CPD spokesperson Scott Beaubien.

Police said two men walked into the store wearing “disposable face masks” and appeared to be buying a Slim Jim. As the cashier opened the register, one of the suspects tried to grab the cash drawer, but the cashier quickly shut it.

Then the suspect pointed a firearm at the cashier and used a hammer in an attempt to break into the register. After being unsuccessful, both men ran from the store and were last seen heading behind the nearby Dairy Queen.

Investigators said someone may recognize the men based on their clothing.
