CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A man booked on a DUI charge died at the Montgomery County Jail last week.

John Frederick Murray, 44, died Friday, the day after being booked, according to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Mark Wojnarek.

Murray was booked Thursday on the DUI and other related charges, and he was unsuccessful at posting bond. He went through the medical screening and was assigned a cell, Wojnarek told Clarksville Now.

On May 6, during a security check, Murray was discovered unresponsive. Deputies administered CPR and called for an ambulance. EMS transported Murray to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Wojnarek said.

Investigators are conducting an unattended death investigation, and an autopsy was requested of the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
