CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – An industrial accident resulted in a death this morning at the Hankook & Company ES battery facility in Clarksville’s industrial business park.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at the facility at 8 a.m., according to MCSO spokesperson Sandra Brandon.
“Earlier today, an accident occurred at the Hankook & Company ES America Corp. (formerly Hankook Atlas BX) manufacturing facility in Clarksville, resulting in the death of an employee,” the company said in a statement to Clarksville Now.
“The incident took place during routine maintenance of plant equipment. Operations were immediately halted for the day and emergency services were called to the scene. An investigation is underway, but there is no ongoing safety concern at the facility. We are working with the appropriate governmental authorities to gather more information.
“All of us at Hankook & Company ES extend our deepest sympathies to the family of our employee,” the statement said.
The employee’s name has not been released.
The body has been taken to Nashville for examination to determine the exact cause of death, according to Brandon.
