CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Human Relations Commission, The Governor’s Office of Diversity Business Enterprise and The Montgomery County, Tennessee Legislative Delegation would like to announce an upcoming workshop opportunity for minority-owned, women-owned, service-disabled, veteran-owned and small business enterprises looking to do business with government.

The purpose of this workshop is to educate, inform and inspire businesses in Clarksville-Montgomery County and surrounding areas to take part in the numerous bidding opportunities available within governmental agencies. The following topics will be featured during the four-hour session:

– Requirements for becoming a vendor with various governmental agencies
– How to be considered as a professional services vendor not requiring bids, if applicable
– Types of bids typically posted and awarded
– Where to locate bids, request for proposals and other pertinent information on becoming a vendor/contractor
– Special feature on Governor’s Office for Business Diversity & Edison Registration System
– Q&A

City Mayor McMillan & County Mayor Durrett as well as Montgomery County TN Legislative Delegation; Rep. Joe Pitts and Rep. Curtis Johnson will give opening statements in support of growing small and minority businesses in Tennessee. More than six local and state governmental offices will be represented. Other vendors will be on site to answer small business lending needs and insurance questions.

The event will take place on from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 24 at the William O. Beach Civic Hall facility located on 350 Pageant Lane. Registration is required, though the event is free.
