CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (Clarksvillenow.com) Clarksville Fire Rescue responded to a house fire at 3630 Oakland Road shortly before 10:00 Friday morning. There were three people inside the home at the time of the blaze but they escaped without injuries. The three were helped by nearby construction workers.

Fire Marshall Ray Williams said the workers were working next door, found the door to the burning home unlocked, and went in to find the residents sleeping. Williams emphasized that the home also had a working fire alarm and that, along with the actions of the construction workers, helped to get the two adults and boy out of the home.

One firefighter suffered an injury to his ankle during the fire but he was treated and released and Williams said he is going to be fine.

Williams said firefighters began their attack on the fire as soon as they arrived on the scene but were forced back by the intense smoke and flames. The home suffered extensive damage to the roof and the downstairs living room area. The fire reportedly started in the deck area behind the home and spread to the attic.
