CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Montgomery County deputies are looking for a driver who fled after crashing a car during a police chase.

It happened just before 10 p.m. Friday night when a deputy tried to pull over a car for a traffic violation. The suspect did not stop and a high speed chase ensued.

During the five-minute pursuit the deputy recognized the driver as as the person wanted for an armed robbery in Clarksville.

Officials said the suspect tossed a misdemeanor amount of marijuana out of the window before crashing into a utility pole on Cherry Tree Lane. He then took off on foot.

The crash brought down electrical lines and started a small vehicle fire.

Officials used a K-9 unit to search for the suspect, but were unsuccessful.
