CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A man wanted on misdemeanor warrants was fleeing local deputies when he crashed into another driver, totaling her car.

At 8:05 a.m. on Jan. 28, a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputy tried to stop a vehicle on Highway 48/13 just past Zinc Plant Road, according to MCSO spokesman Bishop Delaney.

The driver didn’t stop and sped north toward Riverside Drive with the deputy in pursuit. The driver tried to run the red light at Riverside Drive.

Mariah Foss was driving on Riverside to Walmart for a grocery trip. When the light turned green at 48/13, she drove forward and was struck on the back driver’s side of her car, sending her spinning off into a light pole, which then caused her to spin three more times before coming to a rest in the grassy ditch in front of Gary Mathews Motors.

“The last thing I remember was getting to the intersection,” Foss told Clarksville Now. “Making sure the light was still green, and it was, so I went ahead and was proceeding through the intersection; the next thing I know, I just got hit and I was spinning.”

Riverside was shut down while the incident was investigated by Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Foss was taken to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville following the crash.

Although she managed leave the wreck with no broken bones, she suffered internal and external bruising and a lot of swelling in the upper body, she said. Both of her overhead airbags deployed as well as her door airbags, she said. She sustained burns to her hands, chest and lower abdomen from the seatbelt. Her right hand was swollen significantly, covered in bruises and abrasions. Her car was totaled.

Evan Ray Davis (MCSO)

Evan Ray Davis, the driver of the suspect vehicle, was detained and transported to Tennova for evaluation. He was arrested on an existing capias warrant (simple possession and financial responsibility) from Montgomery County, along with evading arrest, reckless endangerment, unlawful drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license. He also has a warrant from Stewart County on a charge of theft, Delaney said.
