CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Temperatures and humidity have been relentless this week, and the highs will stay in the mid-90s through Independence Day weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning until 8 p.m. Thursday. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with heat index values up to 112, the NWS said.

Tuesday’s high reached 94 degrees at 4 p.m. at Clarksville Regional Airport, with a 104 heat index. Monday was much the same. Sunday hit just under 92, with a 103 index.

Overnight lows will remain warm, only falling into the mid- to upper 70s, the NWS said. Some relief has become available in Clarksville with the opening of several cooling shelters.

For Independence Day weekend, there’s a 50% chance of storms Friday and Saturday, then a 40% chance on Sunday. Highs will remain in the mid-90s.
