CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) –The first day of school is just around the corner and it’s time for the 5 Star Media and the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation’s annual Stuff the Bus event.

With Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools making plans to reopen in August, teachers and students will be in need of supplies and this event allows the community to shop and then donate school supplies, which is loaded onto a school bus.

Stuff the Bus will take place on Saturday, July 25 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at both the Fort Campbell Boulevard and Wilma Rudolph Boulevard  Walmart stores.

On  Sunday, July 26  it will be held from noon – 5 p.m. at the Madison Street Walmart location and at the Wilma Rudolph Boulevard Walmart from noon- 3 p.m.

All donations go to the CMC Education Foundation Teacher Warehouse. Many teachers use their own money throughout the school year for needed supplies for their classroom and students, but  Stuff the Bus helps teachers receive the supplies they need at no cost.

COVID-19 Precautions

Stuff the Bus, sponsored by Grace Dental, will be a little different this year due to COVID-19,  according to Robin Burton, Executive Director of the CMC Education Foundation.

“With everything we are going through because of COVID-19, we decided for safety and abundance of caution to shorten the hours and limit the number of volunteers for the collection of school supplies,” Burton said.

Volunteers will be wearing masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer will be available. They will be practicing  social distancing as they hand out lists of needed schools supplies to those who want to shop and donate.

Operations Manager for 5-Star Media, Scott Chase, said this year there are a few ways  to show your support for Stuff the Bus event.

“We’ve had to adjust the way we do things this year,” Chase said. “We now have multiple ways to support Stuff the Bus. You can still stop by Walmart this weekend and make a donation in person, or you can make a cash donation or an item donation through Amazon.”

To donate through Amazon,  text ‘teacher’ to 77000 to get both donation links sent right to your phone, Chase said.

The items purchased through Amazon will be sent directly to the Montgomery County School Teacher’s Warehouse.  Even though school may be a little different this year, we still need to do our part to help our local schools, teachers, and students,” Chase said.

This year’s sponsor for Stuff the Bus is Grace Dental.
