CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLE) – It was a beautiful fall day as Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County dedicated their 100th home, with Linda Ellison accepting the keys as the new homeowner on Charlotte Street in Clarksville.

Ellison said she was overjoyed with her new home. “I’m excited, I thank God and I thank Habitat for Humanity for this opportunity to own a new home, I am truly blessed,” said Ellison.

Along with the traditional presentation of a bible from Habitat for Humanity, other supporters presented Ellison with gifts for her new home.

Those included a quilt from the Clarksville Quilt Posse, flowering plants and a small tree from the Master Gardeners Association, Thanksgiving and Christmas wreaths from the Beachaven Garden Club, and a collection of books from the DAR.

Ellison received the keys to her new home from Todd Beck and George Watson who have partnered with Habitat for Humanity for many years working with the organizations new homes.

Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts talked about the work of Habitat for Humanity, saying that this should not be just the 100th home, but the first of the next 100 homes that are going to be built.

“So, to Linda, and Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, thank you, for your commitment to making sure that every citizen gets and deserves a safe, decent, and beautiful place to live,” Pitts said.

Because of concerns of COVID-19 the dedication ceremony was brief and was held while practicing social distancing and the wearing of masks.
