CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The death of a 22-year-old man who was found shot in a car in the Target parking lot on June 28 has been ruled a suicide.

At about 9:07 p.m. that day, Clarksville Police responded to the scene and found that the driver of a blue Honda Civic had sustained a gunshot wound, according to previous reports. The man was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by a LifeFlight helicopter. He died from his injuries shortly after arriving.

The medical examiner determined the victim died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, CPD spokesperson Scott Beaubien said Thursday.

“The Clarksville Police Department investigates all unattended deaths and treats them as a homicide until it can be proven otherwise,” Beaubien said.

No further information has been released.
