CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification program held their annual banquet on Thursday, September 26, at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center, honoring local organizations and businesses for their efforts in conservation.
Prior to the banquet, students of Rossview Middle School invited guests to play games using recycled materials. The students also assisted local radio personality Jai Kershner as she announced prize winners.
One of Clarksville-Montgomery County School System’s new propane-powered buses was on display during the event. Jim Sumrell, chief operations officer for CMCSS, gave a presentation on the expansion of the bus program as well as other cost-saving, environmentally-conscious programs.
Some Clarksville area businesses and civic groups reached a higher certification status, as they continued to achieve additional goals put forth by the Green Certification program. The levels of certification allow businesses of all sizes and abilities the chance to grow in their efforts through the years.
