CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – As the soccer season winds down, Austin Peay women’s soccer will take to the pitch against two OVC foes from Kentucky. The Govs will first host Morehead State at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2019 at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field before they hit the road to take on Murray State at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20 in the First Financial Bank Battle of the Border.

The Friday match will be “Pedal to the Peay” night and anyone who rides their bike to Morgan Brothers Soccer Field will receive a complementary t-shirt.

With only two weekends remaining in the regular season, the Governors sit in the second to last spot for the OVC Soccer Championship. Sitting at seven points in conference play, the Govs are tied with Eastern Illinois and Morehead State and trail Belmont by three points.

Austin Peay has struggled against Morehead State historically, posting a 3-12-3 all-time record in the series. The Governors did take the last meeting in Clarksville between the two teams, pulling out a 2-0 win on Oct. 22, 2017.

After the Governor’s last match against Jacksonville State, Rachel Bradberry is now the leading goal scorer for Austin Peay. The sophomore from Alabama has three goals on the year, surpassing Claire Larose, who still leads the Govs with seven total points. Larose currently ranks in the top ten in the OVC in shots, shots per game and game-winning goals.
