CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- On Monday, March 23, the Montgomery County and Clarksville mayors enacted orders that required the closure of the interior concourses of Governor’s Square Mall.
The mandate is part of an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, also known as coronavirus.
Officials at Governor’s Square Mall announced Tuesday, March 24, they will close today at 7pm (CDT) and remain closed through March 31.
Unless government authorities extend this closure order, the mall will reopen for business on April 1.
Although the enclosed mall will be temporarily closing, many businesses that have been deemed “essential” will remain open. They include:
- Best Buy
- Firestone
- Gordon Food Service
- JoAnn
- Petco
- Target
- Vitamin Shoppe
Similarly, the following restaurants will be serving their customers but only on a take-out or delivery basis:
- Chuck E. Cheeses
- Golden Corral
- IHOP
- Old Chicago Pizza
- Rafferty’s
- Steak ‘n Shake
- Subway

The current public health crisis makes it difficult or unadvisable to conduct a full schedule of public events at the mall.
All events scheduled for the next two weeks have been cancelled.
“Our management staff is deeply disappointed by this and apologizes to all visitors who look forward to these events,” GSM said in a news release.
