CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – For more than six months, Governor’s Square Mall has been undergoing an intensive transformation. Now, the renovation is complete. A Grand Reopening Celebration will take place November 15-16. It will be a weekend filled with entertainment, food, celebrity appearances and lots of fun.
The multi-million-dollar renovation has transformed the look and feel of the mall. It created new ceilings and skylights, new carpeting and porcelain tile flooring, refreshed public restrooms, energy-efficient lighting, heating and cooling improvements, a fresh, contemporary design for mall entrances and signage, new landscaping, upgraded soft-seating areas and other customer amenities. The vast majority of the work took place in the overnight hours, when the mall was closed for business. The renovation complements the addition of a new food court, which was constructed in 2010.
The public is invited to join in the celebration. It starts at 10AM on November 15 with a walk up the red carpet through our new main entrance. (Stop for a free photo, downloadable after the event.) Inside, the Brio String Ensemble will set the mood. Tennessee Titan Cheerleaders will be on hand to meet their fans 10 – 11AM. A formal Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony will take place in the Dick’s Sporting Goods Court at 11AM. At that time a special donation will be presented to two local charities. Immediately following the ribbon-cutting, a Taste of Governor’s Square will offer samples of some of the tasty fare from local restaurants.
Fans of the Disney TV series Jesse will get to meet Peyton List, better known as the character “Emma”, from 11:30AM until 2:30PM in the Dick’s Court. This is a FREE meet & greet event but fans are asked to limit themselves to one autograph apiece. Throughout the afternoon, a string of entertainers and costume character super-heroes will entertain visitors (see attached lineup for times and locations), capped off with Renovation Rain Fireworks lighting up the sky at 9PM.
On Sunday, November 16, a very special Purchase with a Purpose event will raise money to assist local charities. Shoppers who purchase $5 wristbands will be entitled to exclusive discounts from mall merchants. Proceeds from the wristband sales will benefit Fort Campbell Fisher House.
Enjoy The Nashville Predator Experience from 11AM till noon in the Dick’s Court. It will include games, giveaways and a very special guest. That will be immediately followed by Dora the Explorer until 2PM, then by Marvel Comics super-hero Captain America until 6PM.
