Local officials with Goodwill say a national report about employee pay does not apply here. A recent report on NBC’s “Rock Center” said some workers are paid less than minimum wage.

David Lifsey, the President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee made the following statement in response to the report:

“All employees of Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee are paid more than minimum wage. Our mission is to prepare as many as we can for even higher paying jobs in the community. The services and employment opportunities we provide don’t call for use of Department of Labor’s Special Minimum Wage Certificate.”

The statement went on to say, Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee is committed to maintaining accountability to its donors, employees, and community members.
