FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The GoFundMe crowdfunding site says millions of dollars in donations will be refunded after a campaign to raise $1 billion for the Trump border fell short of its goal.
“We The People Will Build the Wall,” was created by disabled veterans Brian Kolfage in mid-December and has received more than $20-million dollars of $1-billion dollar goal.
According to Fox News, the original campaign page pledged “If we don’t reach our goal or come significantly close we will refund every single penny” and that “100% of your donations will go to the Trump Wall. If for ANY reason we don’t reach our goal we will refund your donation,” Bobby Whithorne, a spokesman for GoFundMe, said in a statement Friday.
Kolfage has since created a nonprofit called “We Build the Wall, Inc.” to ask donors to send money to that organization instead.
