Led by the highest-scoring game by a Governor since 2019, Austin Peay State University’s basketball team earned its seventh-straight Atlantic Sun Conference victory this week, 95-87 against Queens. Collin Parker’s 39 points are the most by a Gov since Terry Taylor scored 42 against Morehead State on Feb. 16, 2019.

With that win, Austin Peay improved to 18-6 overall, 12-1 in ASUN Conference play, maintaining a one-game lead over Central Arkansas in the ASUN standings.

And this weekend, the Govs look to make it eight ASUN wins in a row! Austin Peay returns to Clarksville for its penultimate home game of the season to host Bellarmine at 4:30 p.m. Saturday on Gary Mathews Court at F&M Bank Arena.

The Bellarmine Knights (11-14 overall, 6-7 ASUN) are in sixth place in the conference after finishing dead-last with a 2-16 conference record last season. The Knights were riding a four-game winning streak before their loss Wednesday to Central Arkansas. But even in seasons when Bellarmine has struggled, they’ve given the Govs tough games. Two of the last three meetings between the Govs and Knights have gone to overtime.

This Saturday is the Hearts, Hoops and Homecoming game at F&M Bank Arena, and also a Teacher Appreciation and Hall of Fame Game, presented by Wendy’s.
