George Wesley Marrs, age 71, of Clarksville, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 at his home. He was born in Pawnee, OK, to the late George Marrs and Mary Martin Marrs.

George was a proud father and grandfather, who loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. He was a retired soldier, who was loved and well-liked, having proudly served for 23 years. Mr. Marrs was a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran and was Vice President of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 396, in Clarksville. He was also a member of American Legion Life, VFW Post 4895, The Society of the Fifth Division, and Non-Commissioned Officers’ Association of the United States of America. George loved sports, fishing, and the Fort Campbell Falcons.

A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, January 31 at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery – West, in Hopkinsville, KY. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, January 30.

Military personnel will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Joshua Marlow and Markus Marrs.

George is survived by his son, Larry (Beth) Marrs, of Arizona; daughters, Susan Marrs Gordon (Michell Yates), of North Carolina, and Beth Burrell, of South Carolina; sisters Wilma Mullennax and Louise (Alfred) Bishop, of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Markus Marrs, Kayla Marrs, Rian Marrs, Kasey Marrs, and Candice Thomas; and Joshua Marlow and Anna Marlow, who he played with and talked to regularly.
